Quik-Pik Vending in Marion provides high-quality, tech-enabled vending machines in businesses and community locations. Quik-Pik installs, fills, and services vending machines at no cost to the business— offering a great way for organizations to provide employees with fast, convenient access to their favorite beverages and snacks!
The creation of Quik-Pik Vending was inspired by Caden Ruth, a young adult whose daily life is significantly impacted by autism, and the Direct Service Professionals (DSPs) Gavin Baisden and Dane Williams, who help him live his best life. Caden is the son of Mid-Ohio Energy members Sherry Fisher-Ruth and Arden Ruth.
Arden is a lifelong farmer, while Sherry has operated a marketing consulting business for many years. As they gained clarity about the type of work setting that would fit Caden’s needs, creating a business from the ground up was a familiar, entrepreneurial path.
A great fit
The symptoms of autism can vary significantly from day to day, so many individuals with autism need a flexible schedule, which makes the vending business a great fit for Caden. Like most of us, autistic individuals have a strong desire to perform meaningful work, interact with community members, be part of a team, and be of service to others. Caden likes having vending products in their proper places, he enjoys cleaning, gets great satisfaction from completing tasks properly, and he loves snacks.
