An efficient and well-insulated water heater ensures that you'll have plenty of hot water read when you need it (with minimal energy used to store the hot water).
To encourage the use of efficient electric tank water heaters, Mid-Ohio Energy offers the following rebates for new water heater purchases:
New homes (click for flyer)
Eligible for an energy credit of up to $500.00 on a qualifying water heater.
Existing homes (click for flyer)
A member replacing an existing water heater will be eligible for reimbursement of up to half of the purchase price, not to exceed $200.00.
Qualifying water heater requirements:

50 gallon or greater capacity

Heating elements must be 4500 watts or less

8-year minimum warranty

Must have radio-control switch (RCS) switch installed by the cooperative. There is no cost to the RCS, which is part of the cooperative's load management program.
To apply for the rebate, keep a copy of your purchase receipt and submit or bring in to our offices. Please call if you have any questions about the rebate program!
Reimbursements will be made in the form of a credit on the member’s electric bill.
Note to members with Marathon water heaters: Our offices carry replacement parts for Marathon water heaters. We have both heating elements and thermostats. If you are in need of a replacement part, please stop by our offices.
Members who have a leaking Marathon tank (under warranty) may also be eligible for our tank replacement rebate of up to $500.00 towards the purchase of a new tank. Any replacement tank would need to meet the "qualifying water heater requirements" listed above. Contact us for details.
