Levelized Budget Billing
During peak usage, your home's HVAC system is likely working harder to keep you cool in the summer or warm in the winter. However, there's no need to sweat the impact of seasonal highs-and-lows on your energy costs. Enroll in Mid-Ohio Energy’s levelized budget billing program and smooth out the peaks and valleys of your monthly bills.
For participating members, the levelized billing program determines your monthly billing amount by taking a rolling average of your energy use from the past 12 months. As a result, your billing amount varies slightly from month-to-month, but remains consistent for budgeting convenience. Since the amount is calculated and adjusted monthly, there’s never a “catch up” month.
To easily track your use and actual energy costs, your monthly statement lists “Actual Account Balance” indicating the sum of the balance (prior to billing) and all current electric charges (including security light, Community Fund, etc.). It also indicates the amount owed (or credited) if the member were to exit the levelized program. The “Monthly Levelized Charge” line states the amount to be paid for a given month based on the levelized budget calculation.
To enroll, a member must have at least 12 consecutive months of billing history and no outstanding balance. If you’re curious to know what your approximate monthly levelized charge would be, give us a call.
