Code of Regulations updated, trustees elected during this year's annual meeting
In April, Mid-Ohio Energy's Annual Meeting of Members was posted online, allowing members the opportunity to log in at their convenience, view a co-op update, and submit for a $20 meeting attendance energy credit.
This year's meeting was hosted in a virtual, “online only” format as part of the co-op’s member events plan in 2025.
In total, 810 members submitted for their meeting attendance credits, marking a significant increase in participation from recent in-person annual meetings and an increase in nearly 300 submissions from last year’s virtual meeting!
While the window to view the meeting for an energy credit is closed, members can still view the meeting and related materials online here.
Cooperative election results
In this year’s election, a total of 779 votes were cast, constituting 11% of the available voting members. Candidates elected to the board of trustees were Cy Prettyman (District 4), Howard Lyle (District 5), and Paul Beineke (District 6).
Cy Prettyman is newly elected to the District 4 trustee post, while Howard Lyle and Paul Beineke were reelected and will begin serving their third terms for their respective districts.
Additionally, members voted to approve updates to Mid-Ohio Energy’s Code of Regulations concerning right-of-way easements and trustee eligibility criteria.
The proposed changes for right-of-way easements added language to have members grant right-of-way easements to the co-op that will allow the co-op to properly manage and maintain electric distribution lines to provide power to members.
Changes to trustee qualifications were made to add flexibility that provides a way for more members to get involved in the co-op’s democratic process. The candidate criteria and election process remains unchanged; however, a new provision adds flexibility for the spouse of a member to enter the trustee nominating process.
Upon announcement of the election results, Chairman Trevor Fremont took a moment to recognize outgoing trustee Curtis Byers for his service to the cooperative.
In a mailing to all members in February, members were asked to submit any new business to be addressed. With no new business submitted, Chairman Fremont closed the meeting, and invited members to attend the co-op's Family Fun Days in August (August 7 at Elgin High School and August 14 at the co-op’s Kenton office).
